Commonly known as African Tulip tree, botanically the Spathodea campanulata and locally known as Neerukayi mara or pickari due to the water that squirts from it when pressed, this one is hard to miss especially when in bloom.
The flamboyant red-orange blooms are a characteristic of September and were on my mind, now that we are almost at the end of the month. And, as luck would have it, these beauties greeted me, right outside our apartment, when I had to step out for buying some veggies yesterday morning!

Lovely!! Pune has several of these trees mostly as avenue trees. Flamboyant is the right word for these pretty flowers!

These are beautiful, Priya. Like the Pink Trumpet, these red flowers also define the flora of Bangalore. Thank you for sharing and making me think of these flowers around my neighborhood.
