The skies become cloudy and I wonder if its going to rain. The thought of rain takes me to the balcony and I instinctively scan the pots to see if there are any buds waiting to bloom…
Yes… rains bring along with them the pretty rain lilies. Bangalore has been having its share of rains in April and May and these beauties have kept their date with the rains 🙂
I’d seen these beautiful flowers in fields and parks many a times in my school days and had wondered if one could ‘grow’ them. Mostly yellow in colour, where I lived then, they always reminded me of these famous lines by William Wordsworth –
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
I’d never seen or heard of daffodils and I’d always wondered if these flowers were daffodils! I was probably in the 5th or 6th grade, no internet then and no easy access to answers. For a long time I did not know what these flowers were called.
Fast forward a couple of decades – our maid or was it our house help who came in possession of some ‘bulbs’. Duly taken care of, the bulbs surprised us one day with these pink beauties! A blessing … a gift that keeps on giving!!
Pretty! arent they? 🙂 Lil joys that light up our days, especially uplifting during this time.
Have a lovely weekend folks!
Cheers!!
