Couple of weeks ago, my granma and aunty came to visit us. They were conversing in Tamil. Our house help tried to converse with them in the sign language and was successful in communicating with them, whenever it was needed.
She once mentioned that she can understand Tamil but doesnt speak the language. She explained that she feared they/we would laugh at her… the most common reason why people end up not learning to speak in languages they are familiar with…
To this, Ammu said… ‘avaru nakkidre…neenu nagu…ashte’ 🙂 meaning… ‘if they laugh, you also join…thats all!!’
Kids always have an answer and a simple solution…no matter what. Dont you think so?
